Reactivating Flip 3D – Windows Vista

The new Flip 3D function makes toggling between open windows fast. But the icon to activate it in the quick start bar has disappeared. You want to restore it.

The icon for calling up Flip 3D can be restored with a ‘rundll’ link. First make sure that the taskbar is not locked by right-clicking on an empty space and removing the check-mark for the ‘Lock taskbar’ command in the context menu. Right clicking on the Quick Start bar opens a context menu. Select ‘Open Folder’ and ‘File->New->Link’ in the dialog. Enter the command ‘rundll32 dwmapi 3105’ as the target and click ‘Next’.

Define the ‘Flip 3D’ as the name and click ‘Finish’. The link is immediately available again. You can also use the same command to create a link on the desktop or to bind the request to the center mouse button if you have installed a mouse driver that allows a self-programmed key configuration.
