The weakest link
Sporting the same kind of build quality that we saw on the larger 19-inch NEC monitors, the 1770NX immediately ran into issues with contrast in DisplayMate—nearly half of our grey cards were indistinguishable from black. In the color tests, for some weird reason, the 16-shade intensity ramp had serious issues with the four brightest intensities in the color green, and with the three brightest intensities in the colors red and blue where the shades looked the same—a shame for this monitor. In games the contrast ratio was noticeable although the color issue was only apparent with games. At this price nobody is going to lose any sleep over whether to purchase this monitor or not, so we’ll leave it at that.
